William, by the grace of God king of the Scots, to bishops, abbots, earls, barons, justices, officials, and all worthy men of his entire land, clerk and lay, greeting. Let present and future know me to have conceded, and by this my charter to have made firm, to God and also to the church of St Mary at Clerkenwell [Clerks'-Well] and the monks serving God there the 140 [⁊ × 20] acres of land in the Hanger of Tottenham that Robert fitz Sewin of Northampton gave them, and of the gift of the same half holm which Ingram had held, and four tree trunks for their fire from my wood at Tottenham, and ten pigs quit of pasture dues, to be held in everlasting alms, as freely and quitly, fully, and honourably, as the charter of King Malcolm my brother and my own confirm those holdings to the aforesaid Robert fitz Sewin, and the charter of the same Robert bears witness and confirms to them freely, quitly, fully, and honourably; saving my service. As witnesses: Richard de Morville the constable; Richard Cotton; Philip de Valognes; Hugh Ridel; Walter of Berkeley; Walter of Windsor; Robert of Berkeley; William son of Emma; John of Hastings. At Northampton.
