Walter del Bois, to all sons of Holy Mother Church, clerk and lay, greeting in Christ. Let present and future know me to have given, granted, and by this my charter to have made firm, to God and Saint Cuthbert, and to his monks of Durham, for the salvation of my soul and of my wife's, and of my ancestors' and successors', three acres of land in the field of Carruthers at 'Tavenaus', in pure and everlasting alms, free and quit from all secular service, custom, and demand, as freely and quitly as any alms is most freely and quitly given to any saint by anyone from my territories within the region of Scotland. With these witnesses, Richard my son, Alan my nephew, Ralph of Wassand, Robert de Lithum, Paitin the provost, Walter the nephew of William of Spain, Uhtred of Newton, and many others.
